Angels spoke and danced with me and gave a gift of speech that day. Upon the floor where Jesus stood and now they stand with Cherubim.

Stone Angels, dance with me as Jesus speaks to many more. I see one in the courtyard still as many years before.                           D.C. 2011

CHAPTER  1    “It’s all about me” (Jesus)

When Jesus dealt with people, he often threw something back in their face to think about. He often stopped them in their tracks, threw them off or made them look to him, the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last.

For Jesus, the main focus was bringing people to himself. To some he was life and to others a threat. His truth was often challenged and hated, but at the end of the day, people had to face him, one way or another.

Jesus was indeed a stumbling block in which many would skirt around, by building on an issue, a philosophy, a religion, a game or Art Form, in order to avoid him. Jesus simply stood for the truth and was often quite annoying to many of his listeners but he and the Father were one so he did not stand-alone. To love him was to love the Father and to love the Father was to love him.

Jesus would request things like a “Donkey” and if people wondered why they were taking it, he told them, “Tell them I have need of it”

He commanded his purpose.

Jesus said to Peter that the son of man was to die, and Peter tried to deny him of this, but Jesus turned to him sharply and said,

Get thee behind thee Satan!” because Peter was not focused on Gods purpose, the bigger picture.

Jesus often pointed out scriptures that pointed to himself, as in the case where the Pharisees bragged about the “Moses” they followed. Jesus pointed out to them that “Moses” attested to himself!

Jesus came to fulfill the Law, not destroy it.

For someone who preached to turn the other cheek, Jesus certainly had a habit of slapping people in the face with the truth. Remarkably, Jesus always had an answer to every situation, even if the answer was his silence.

One can only come to the conclusion that he must be the man who knows us completely. We can turn him, as the Samaritan woman did when she said “come and meet the man that knows everything about me”

Why did the people fight him? What was it about the truth that angered them?

Was it because he seemed to exude or appear arrogant and self centered as if to say …”It’s all about me” ?

CHAPTER 2 In and out of the Maze

In the gospel of John, there is a passage that has been fought over for centuries. It is a story attributed to a woman dragged to the temple at dawn for the sin of Adultery. Pericope de Adultera, better known as the woman caught in adultery in John 8:1-11

What started me writing on this verse was a web site on the passage that has been in the works for 3 years, which was (and still is) primarily being created to defend it's authenticity. It is also an education to the world about the reality of stoning.

The issue still affects us today. Women are being stoned in the Middle East. It is also about the delivery of the present Court System and the fact that Muslims fight to get this Law into Canadian Judicial system.

I stumbled on a book called “Women in a Maze” by Ruth Tucker and the cover caught my eye because it was a painting of a woman in a maze, which reminded me of a Dream I had around 1994 or 95. In my Dream, a woman named Tess and a man named Brian (who were in a Bible Study group I was in many years ago) dropped me off at the front drive of a Church. It was a circle drive.

I entered the Church, which turned out to be a Maze. It was difficult to find my way through. It was filled with rooms and stained glass. I made it to a large sanctuary with dark brown wooden pews. The sanctuary had high ceilings and tall pillars with all the décor of an old Anglican or Catholic Church. There were woman couples “making out” in the pews. Although I didn’t take much note of it, but knew it was just merely a presentation of who they were at that time in their lives. They were passing through and so was I. I was just an observer on a path, in and out of a maze

I did not stop to chat or socialize. I didn’t think of the doctrines around gender differences or roles. I just kept making my way through.

I finally made it to an open courtyard, where there were statues talking to one another but I remember there was one, which knew me, and was not surprised at my arrival. It was as if he had been waiting a long time for me to come. He had stood there since Jesus walked the Earth and witnessed all the comings and goings in all of Christendom’s history. He was aware of every origin, of every doctrine, every corruption, argument and confusion of the Church and its scriptures.

He taught me everything I needed to know. He seemed to be my friend and I was his. He was my statue and comrade, patiently watching the many things in the Church over the years, as he waited for anyone to arrive to speak to him.

He was there to teach me as soon as I got out of the Maze but it was actually this statue friend , who drew me out of the maze. I knew instantly upon waking that it was my own comrade and friend who developed a piece on John 8:1-11, 20 years ago ! (and started up again around 2005)

Mirror 2:

Another surprise was when I recognized the location of the Dream. When we moved to Peterborough seven years later, I recognized the driveway, the Courtyard and sanctuary, to be none other than our present Church, St Johns Peterborough, but instead of a statue of the man, there is a statue of an angel.

(which was installed later)

I noticed in January of 2009, the statue of the Angel was not there. It was stolen. But on Sunday April 26, 2009 , on my daughters 18th Birthday,  2 parishioners I was talking to asked me if I knew "what happened" I had already asked about one of the parishioners heart so I thought it was about his heart but he said no. Then he told me what happened. He said that he had given my Art card with the photo of the Angel in the court yard on it , for a 95 yr old parishioner as a gift for the day of his memorial (Wed April 22) On that day, they found the Stone Angel that was stolen in the bushes!! Wow!! I couldn’t believe it! It was gone and then was returned! They said I was spooking people with the synchronicity of my Art card with the return of the Angel.  (we laughed).  I am not superstitious but that is something else! They thought it was very  interesting and  I agreed! Another member thought it must be more of a coincidence, but also thought the Lord did a thing for sure !

Thank  GOD for the Angel!

(add on)

Seven years have since passed and the site has expanded into a rather large piece on this passage covering every angle, every manuscript available, commentaries on several other authors on the subject, arguments for and against, reasons why this specific passage needs defending, what its relevancy is and why we need to understand its context to the Bible as a whole, most of all, what did Jesus write on the Temple floor?

The authenticity of John 8:1-11 is a life’s work so it has influenced many individuals quite a lot.Central to the theme is more than forgiveness, but also the treatment of women in past, the present, in the Church and in the world. But that is not the main point of the scripture passage.

Jesus, who embodied the scriptures and delivered them, as the living word was the key figure as teacher and defender of the truth and it is he who speaks about many things in this incident. The delivery of this subject seemed so intense. The Pharisees used rigorous standards to scrutinize the woman. This is what needed to be addressed through textural criticism, (Studies on origins of the text) and to explain the truth about the footnotes and corruptions in the text.

CHAPTER 3  Chiastic Pattern:  the beginning and end meet in the Middle

In Hebrew poetry, a pattern was often used in the text to keep it intact, so translators could not remove a portion without anyone noticing.

This system, if tampered with would interrupt the pattern, change the delivery and meaning, thereby became obvious that it was tampered with. It was called the Chiastic pattern. In this pattern the text was written with a beginning, a centre and an end, revealing a sequence that only made sense when the pattern stayed in tact.Taking out John 8:1-11 would ruin the pattern, put a gapping hole in the Gospel so large that most people would notice it.

In order to persuade people to question the text without too much notice, translators put a little footnote at the bottom of the page stating that this passage was not found in the oldest manuscript. This could easily sway an ordinary Christian without knowledge of specific manuscripts.

To these critics,“old” was somehow better but the story itself, is 100 years older than the oldest manuscript. The footnote was not noticed by many people but led others to question. Questioning such a passage would make ordinary people wonder what side to take. Writers, translators, critics and defenders had a lot more to say, for and against.I don’t think I ever really looked at the footnote and I could see no point in writing even an essay to defend what most people accepted.

Before adultera.awardspace.com came about, but after the first initial pamphlet was written 20 years previous, I wrote a poem called “Writing on the Temple Floor” It seemed prophetic that I would write it at that time because it was just before the work got going again.

I believe Jesus can tell us the truth. They are like grains of sand, too infinite to describe or number. It is quite impossible to convey the truth in words and that is why we must come to Jesus to know the truth.

Writing in the Sand

I saw the Lord writing in the Sand.

He whispered softly to me,

calling when no one was around.

He took my hand as he told me

about that day…

(the day a woman was dragged to him at dawn,)

"I will show you what I wrote that day”., he said

“And you will listen and write with me…..

as much as there are grains of sand”

And that was all, he said nothing more.

CHAPTER 4 Reaching the heart

I finally decided to write a poem after learning that a 5th century poet named Sedulias had written a work called Carmen Pascal in which several lines contained a dedication to John 8;1-11.In the Gospels, I find much spiritual insight and comfort by adapting the scriptures to prose and song as sacred Writings, as Sedulias did.

He was someone I could relate to. I could not study manuscripts but I could look at the story and write a poem.

Like Sedulias, the scriptures to me are like a song. I asked our Choral Director if he had heard of Sedulias or if the choir had learned any of his Hymns.

He wasn’t sure but he would look. The next week,a Sedulias Hymn called “From the East to the West” was chosen to be apart of the service. I thanked him for choosing Sedulias but he was surprised, as he had not really noticed the author! The message, as the title of the Hymn, was subtle but true. God’s love is as far as the East is from the West, not knowing its beginning or end.

Although I have not yet been able to find an English Translation for the John 8:1-11 part, I thanked Sedulias for writing this poem and visiting us in our Church that day. (Imagine thanking a dead Saint! I must be Catholic!)

It was a reminder to me that Jesus prayer in John 17, was indeed fulfilled, in that believers receiving his truth would benefit other saints and they in turn, believed on their word.

Sedulias inspired me, as adultera.awardspace.com does, in this present day. Here are two men, trapped in a world, indifferent to the truth. They stand with many Christians. That is the tension that rises in us. The truth.

So to reflect myself, as I was surrounded by this intense work, I wrote a poem on John 8:1-11.In this poem, the stones somehow became important players on the stage. Once ignored as mere weapons, Jesus made friends with them, as if to fulfil the scripture:

Luke 19:40  "I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."

They lay at the Temple at dawn, waiting for their turn to be a witness with Jesus and leave the role they would have had in stoning.

These stones were “converted”.

These transforming Stones could have had a role in killing a woman, as the role they had in Stephan’s murder (with Saul’s approval.) They took on another role, commanded by Jesus, to sit and watch. They became servants to the Lord like living stones.

We are these living stones, tossed sometimes by the commands of corrupted world and much like a court system in which Jesus was falsely accused and had to endure, is a place where Jesus can still speak peace. The stones still stand as a silent watching witness, crying out about God’s forgiveness.

I will remember these stones where Jesus walked. The stones that lay at the feet of this woman, and her new found Lord, Jesus.

CHAPTER 5 Resurfacing

The Gospel story of this woman shows that truth was there when darkness was at it’s worst and death was upon her. The truth physically set her free, and offered a spiritual freedom as well, through the gift of salvation.God still comes like a light shining on our darkness. He gives us gifts through his own science and design, and the work comes out as our inspiration. The work of the Lord pushed me like the reluctant Jonah, who was swallowed by darkness in the belly of a fish, only to be spit out on the shore. This work was  and is more than a thorn in my side but a dagger to my heart, because it is truth.

The thorn in side has pierced quite deep
but being still I did not feel
but as I walk it deepens more
towards my heart and makes it bleed
but all along I did not know
that all I had to do was pull
and use it as a sword at will
with words of Jesus that he gives
to all who come to him

D. Charters Jan 2009

I tried to feel what it would be like to have stones hurled at me and I questioned the intensity, in contrast to ordinary life. I thought of what it would be like to question Jesus actions at the Temple or John the Baptist shouts in the desert to Herod. Would people ever say, “Can you turn those tables over quietly Jesus?..hey, will someone call the cops please?”

Hey John (the Baptist), really, could you confront Herod a little more diplomatically? Have you ever thought of taking anger management class? Besides that John, the sin of adultery is passé’ since collaborative divorce is the new thing now”

That is what we work with now. We jointly agree, to curtail our Lords work, tamper and supplant our comrade’s work, whether male or female, by some ridiculous politically correct jargon or code of behaviour. Or we write a “play” or “booklet” such as this! (guilty as charged!)

Is that the display of righteousness Jesus died for?

But being human, I felt the intensity grow as if time itself was squeezing us to the apocalypses deadline that was to soon come upon us. (Metaphorically speaking!) The work on this passage continued. No rants, crying out or raging song and dance could dissuade this mission. He (author of site) was stubborn like a stone, because God set him with his forehead like flint to deal with the Men who corrupted and disregarded the text.

Ezekiel 3:9
I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house."

forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint” is definitely a good description of character for the author! It gets work done at least!

My poem (or the Lords poem) spoke to him. I decided to appeal to the stones to testify for me so I would not hurl them myself! The lord taught us both something.

CHAPTER 6 Turning the Stones towards love

Not just any stones were used. There were, and still are specific sizes used to “stone” people (which is explained on the site.)

The stones can not be too big, because death comes too soon and not to small or there would be too little pain, but a mid size, range to cause a lot of suffering. (torture) The victim could never walk away since they were often buried past the torso. It was a gruelling process. You would not wish this on your enemy.

Jesus says to us, “Go and sin no more.” He has said, “Come to me and walk with me. I am here. I have always been here. Your sin is no more in me.”

This thorn in my side is there because of Jesus love for me and love for our Family. There is a stronger affection bearing down. That is the work of God.

I am blessed with a loving family so I do not have to suffer as many women, but I still am accountable to reflect on the fact, that many women suffer in this world, and are treated as badly as the Pharisees treated this woman

People, and even organizations who claim to fight for women do not recognize the affections of God towards male/female relationships.

It is not always the job for women to reach out to the female species, as this story proves since Jesus is a man.

Men can be Leaders and protectors of both sexes as well as servants, but many people reject the idea that Men can be good leaders.

Women and Men both have wounds, which Jesus can heal. Courts do not heal. They make money off men and women by dragging them to court to use the very stones that Jesus himself commanded to stay put.

Unfortunately, the results of Men presented as the only perpetrators, has created an awful imbalance and the results have sometimes been women using the system to supplant Men. That is abuse. It is abuse to both sexes and to the Family unit.

This story should be resurrected for women and men alike. The Pharisees were there to condemn the woman to support their own agendas. In this age, some people “support” women, but for the wrong reasons.

In both cases, it is still against women and Men. (the woman, Jesus and the courts today)

Jesus, the healer of sexes does not divide to heal, unless to bring truth. He is a healer. He wants to heal all of us.

The defence of the authenticity of John 8:1-11 will bear fruit to the birth of women around the world as it lays its sword (the word of God) against the lies of Men (and women) but at the same time heal the Men and bring them to walk with the same lord who loved this woman in the John 8:1-11 passage.

Jesus knew he could not condemn her anyway, because according to Deut. 19:15 it took or three witnesses to convict a person of a crime. Since there were no accusers to testify against her, it would not have been legal for Jesus to condemn her.

It is on this writing I realize that John’s Gospel comforts and confronts as if the Spirit of John (like the Spirit of Elijah in John the Baptist) becomes alive and confronts us with truth.

Transforming Stones
by Dori Charters December 2008

To mount of Olives, Jesus walked in the morning at the dawn,
and then the people came to him
he did sit down, and taught again

Those scribes (those snakes, those Pharisees)
dragged a woman of adultery,
and sat her down within his midst,
" Jesus", they cried
We caught her in THE VERY ACT
The law of Moses commands a fist, that she be stoned:
what thinks of this?"

This they said, to test the Lord
But not accused as he lay down, with grace a line upon the dirt
which showed the place where they belong

Continuing, they press him in, he lifts himself, above their head,
For it is God that leads instead, the wisdom for this woman's dread

"You have not sinned?
But dare not look on ground again for that is where you do belong!

Jesus stooped down, wrote on the ground.
then one by one, the eldest first
 and to the  the last
they walked away
and left alone
Jesus, the woman......
and the stones

The stones became a bed of grace , lay witness to the things that said
for  time will come when once again
those snakes will seize those stones again
Instead of casting  on this girl they'll cast on this, the story told
but we will dig into the dirt, those vipers stole.
Where are those snakes hidden in their hole?
The Lord will say
"the caves their home”

But you will have the grace to stand.
oh yes, they may have walked away, but took those stones to  cast again

not on the woman, but on the words spoke to them that day
But risen up, another rock
Defenders of the faith, are Men

They’ve laid the ground for us to see
and tell the story once again
Isaiah 2:19
And they shall go into the holes of the rocks,
and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the
LORD and for the glory of His majesty,
when He ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

CHAPTER 7 Jesus being stoned

Then, after all this, they try to stone Jesus! The Pharisees had no lawful authority to do this either, (and they knew it)

"It is not lawful for us to put any man to death" (John 18:31)

"Jesus answered, "If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of Whom you say that he is your God. But you have not known Him; I know Him. If I said, I do not know Him, I should be a liar like you; but I do know Him and I keep His Word. Your father Abraham rejoiced that he was to see My day; he saw it and was glad."

"The Jews then said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?"

Jesus points to Abraham again, as he did to Moses and the law. He had already confronted them about their bragging about being followers of Moses. (they said, “we follow Moses”) so Jesus confronts them again.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."

"So they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself, and went out of the Temple " (John 8:54-59 RSV)

They had dragged a woman to the Temple and now they drag Jesus.

CHAPTER 8 Stephen being stoned

We already know that the Pharisees were just as quick to condemn a man for making them look stupid. Since Jesus was no longer around, they continued in their practices which Jesus himself, stood against. Stephen accepted his persecution (with Saul as an agreeable witness.)

"But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God; and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God.” But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together upon him. Then they cast him out of the city and stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. And as they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." And he knelt down and cried with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." And when he had said this, he fell asleep”

They were angry at the truth. Stephen spoke and they stoned him without thought of what he said. Scripture states they have no right to be angry without a cause as it states, in Matthew 5:22
But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, `Raca,' shall be in danger of the council; but whosoever shall say, `Thou fool,' shall be in danger of hell fire”

And Jesus knew this as it states in John 15:25

But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law: `They hated Me without a cause.'

Stoning was an act of anger. They wanted to stone a person because the truth made them angry. They appealed to their law, to satisfy their hatred. It had no righteous purpose. Stoning was in place, for purposes of the law, but rarely used. It was more of a warning if anything. Jesus was not there for Stephan but only there after his death, as stated when Stephan quotes "Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God."

CHAPTER 9 Conversion (Hearts of Stone)

Conversion means change. If the rocks can carry the function of death and yet cry out, then surely that is conversion. As the stones cry out, they demonstrate Gods Glory. Sometimes in deportation, we come to God because something dear to us has been stolen. That is the beauty and the sorrow. The world tries to stone us but Jesus throws a curve ball every time because he knows the thoughts and plans of Men. These Pharisees likely knew of the gang rape upon another woman in the Jeremiah story who was “taken” rather than caught in Adultery. Perhaps Jesus wrote this fact out on the Temple floor. Our children too have been seduced (by the world) and dragged into this draconian system by relentless Men and women. The Educational System, who is there to train our youth, is guilty if they “train” them for “careers” that incriminate innocent people, without teaching them about God. Leaders” in our culture have influenced our children to confront life without the Lord and they wonder why our Youth have problems. (why we all have problems) These influences are all around, from drugs to criminals, but also though mis-guided Teachers, principals, lawyers, police, counsellors, and every soldier in this Social Engineered Society who is not willing to go through the maze God leads them through, to come out a changed person at the other end. We all participate in the deception that says that we do not need to consult God. We do need to consult God!. All are at a danger of being deceived. This is why we need to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. The Lord himself sent, and still does, send labourers, with no “education” because he understands the work of defending the innocent. This was the lesson in the courtyard to these “learned Pharisees”

James 2

A Warning against Prejudice
1 My dear brothers and sisters,* how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others?
….6 But you dishonor the poor! Isn't it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court?7 Aren't they the ones who slander Jesus Christ, whose noble name* you bear?
8 Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: "Love your neighbor as yourself."*9 But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law.

Jesus calmly writes on the temple Floor. Jesus contends with those who deceive our children.

Isaiah 49:25 (King James Version)

25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

This is what the LORD says:
Prisoners (our children) will be freed from mighty men.(enemies, those with self interest who steal  them which is a type of kidnapping)
Loot will be taken away from tyrants.(every thing they stole from  us and our Families)
I will fight your enemies, and I will save your children.
ISAIAH 49:25

CHAPTER 10 Yew Lamb by Still Waters

Jesus said “Go and sin no more” to this woman. We too need healing. Our children need healing. They are our sheep led astray by wolves.

I spoke to a long time friend recently about a turbulent issue and she kept saying “still waters”. She was trying to remember the connection and then she remembered. It was a portion from a book called Gods Psychiatry, Mental Health issues based on the 23rd Psalm, Beatitudes and the 10 Commandments by Charles Allen

I learned from this book that Sheep are afraid of running water. They are timid and too afraid to drink from waters moving too fast.
If their wool gets wet, they easily can slip and fall to the water and they are very bad swimmers so the shepherd would gather rocks to create a dam so the water was still enough for them to drink. That is my prayer, that the Lord will build a dam for our loved ones so they may drink at still waters..

Psalm  23  (A Psalm   of David)

  1 The LORD is my shepherd;
         I shall not want.
 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
 3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
         For His name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
         I will fear no evil;
         For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
         You anoint my head with oil;
         My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
         All the days of my life;
         And I will dwell
[a] in the house of the LORD

Perhaps Jesus taught the woman he defended, this Psalm

CHAPTER 11 World's Waters

John 8:1-11 is all about the defence of Jesus. Jesus will also defend our children. He defends them from evil and from lies and also from danger. Here is a poem I wrote when my daughter was just 4. I had a dream in which she drowned. Just after that, she had had an incident, in the water when she was away for the weekend and I was told she had to be pulled out.  After finding this out, I knew my dream was a warning dream from the Lord so I would pray over it   since I would not be there. I wrote this poem after she was able to tell  me about the incident.

Children Fall to World's Waters

When Children Fall to World's Waters.

Who can save them?

When we jump into the waters

We could drown

Where is the arm to pull them

Where is their Savior?

Pull them up before they go down.

Give Hope to the helpless.

Keep them safe upon the pier.

Hold them in the strength that you give

and keep close to those

you hold so dear.

We know your protection as you walk by.

In the waters we see your reflection.

We see they won’t die.

When children fall to Worlds Waters

Who can save them?

Plundered lives.

Yet, sureness in their hearts engraved.

Free them from Worlds sin. D. Charters  1995

CHAPTER 12 Pericope for All

So in all this, I still am walking in and out of the maze and back to the fact that Jesus can meet us in to the courtyard once again. He is not meeting just to free us or confront us of sin either. He meets us to listen and to teach. We can come to the courtyard any time.

Here is an excerpt From Gods Psychiatry by Charles L. Allen
A Spire Book Copyright 1953 by Fleming H. Revell

”….In the midst …. Jesus said nothing. Instead he stooped down and began writing on the ground. I wonder what he wrote? ….. My guess is that he wrote such words as liar, thief, and hypocrites.
One by one, the men who were so ready to condemn, dropped their rocks and shame facedly slipped way
Now comes one of the grandest scenes in the entire bible, the matchless Savoir is alone with the woman.”

He is alone with us too. There he will show us what he really wrote that day.

Chapter13 HOME AGAIN

After the woman in pericope de adultera walked away, she was likely wrestling with many thoughts over her new freedom and how to live.

She probably continued to seek God. She may have became a close follower of Jesus and continued to walk with him on journeys. She may have walked with other disciples. We know one thing for sure. Her life was changed and she was now home with her Lord. Perhaps she was struggling before all this happened, by seeking God and asking the question of her existence.

Tolstoy struggled as well as he wrote a personal testimony of his spiritual struggle on his journey to discovering the 'meaning of life'; the answer to his question, "Why do I exist?". It's in the form of a short book titled "A Confession" He ends as the woman may have, by saying “the light did not abandon me. "

"I remember that it was in early spring: I was alone in the wood listening to its sounds. I listened and thought ever of the same thing, as I had constantly done during those last three years. I was again seeking God ."Live seeking God, and then you will not live without God." And more than ever before, all within me and around me lit up, and the light did not again abandon me. " ~ Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy

We have all been there, to the courtyard where the world drags us with their accusations, lies and tricks. We need not be afraid because Jesus instructed us not to prepare what to say for he will give us the words. He will give us the defence. This is the story of Jesus. As the age old hymn goes,he will write on our hearts too.

Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
Tell how the angels in chorus,
Sang as they welcomed His birth.
“Glory to God in the highest!
Peace and good tidings to earth

HOUSE OF CARDS (Never let the Lost guide us to Truth)

In a dream, I saw a house torn down as the 5 of us disbanded; I saw it being built up anew. The sun has never gone down on our anger because it was the love of God that was becoming manifest in our hearts, despite the brokenness of communication and sin in our lives. God was there all along. I appealed to him daily by saying,

I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my strength, in him I will trust”.

Yet even still we were pulled into lies and deception, and into a deeper maze. It is upsetting and sorrowful. Why is the spirit of deceit like a monster that kidnaps our children and steals their minds and hearts? There are many things, which point to this issue in scripture. It is a form of deceit and lying that misleads and deceives us and overcomes us. The deceived also deceive others.

In Matthew 24, the first word Jesus speaks to his disciples is, "Watch out that no one deceives you," (Matthew 24:4)

Jesus also talks about the blind leading the blind and to those who are perishing, he puts a veil over their minds. It may be said that what a person wants to believe is what they will believe, even when they are wrong. This is the deception  that comes in of not loving or wanting the truth.

2 Corinthians 4:3-10:
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case, the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ.

Ezekiel says in chapter 14:12 that when there is sin in the Land, the Lord will strike and even the righteous Job, Daniel and Noah could not save the land except their own Families. Lot could save his daughters but not his sons-in-laws. They rolled and went back to sleep thinking he was joking! We rarely stop to wonder though, if this is a time where we need other men like Noah, or Job or Lot or even Elijah. We are too busy to think of Godly Men and women. We laugh at them and then ignore them. The Earth has become our playground. The prophets and Gods people play things as a cat plays with prey. But I know that even if my enemies have dug a pit for us we can always remember that though 1,000 fall at our side and 10,000 at our right hand, we will only see with our eyes the punishment of the wicked. PS 91

I put music to many Psalms to meditate on such truths. One psalm was this:

hear all this you people give ear, all you inhabitants of the world, both low and high, rich and poor together………. no one can redeem his brother because his souls ransom is costly PS 49

I know we cannot redeem our brothers, our sisters or even our daughters and sons. Yet, I see a failure in myself for lack of my loyalty and zeal for the word of God that brings us into all truth. Real stories of deceit against Godly Men and Women accounts for the times we are swept up as the real truth is smothered and perhaps by our own sin. It creeps in. 2 Timothy 3:6 For of this sort are those who creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

We need the full armour of the Lord. The Belt of truth, which sets us free like the rider who is faithful and true. The Breastplate of Righteousness covers us. The Gospel of peace is Christ. Our Faith is a shield to quench the fiery darts against evil. Our Helmet will protect our minds from deception and our sword, which is the word of God, will protect us. Sometimes the word of God gets us in trouble because the world says good is evil and their evil is good. We will be persecuted simply by quoting the word of God.

They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

But we have a Lord who is bigger than our enemies. When the enemy comes in like a Flood, the Lord will lift a standard against them. It is our Armour that will protect us in the spiritual battles. John 16:2

My sorrow had overcome me but I cried to God who took me to a higher rock than I. As my foot slipped, the Lord picked me up and took me from those who conceived deception. When the testimony of my enemies came to hijack, God came to me at my gate and spoke as a true witness. He quickly presented the truth to save me from further destruction. This is where I realized that the judgments of Jesus are true and I was to have no further  concerns.

Psalm 19:9   The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

Hail Damascus
Run your Road
Under every step they tread
blaze the sun upon their trail
come Lord Jesus raise your dead

May that road of Damascus, Lord)
have stones for those to fall upon
all that curse and take a sword
against your people
all your people

When they ride upon their horse
strike them down so they don't see
Do not let them run their course
against your people
all your people

See how swiftly, God will fly
and bless your children, within the walls  *
they will sing and never die
and live forever
with Lord Jesus

* He can send the snow like wool
*Who can stand his freezing cold?
*Scattered ashes round the world
stones at his command revealed

Plans will breath their last this hour
all these plans will come to naught
God will lift those weighted down *
Truth will come to all who sought

People of Integrity
*take Instructions from the Lord
Protect oh Lord this family
I'll never wander from your word

  • phrases adapted from the psalms Dori Charters August 2009

written in response to reflection on Pauls conversion where he was physically called into repentance in hope that the Lord does this to many more! We are to love our enemies- Jesus loved Paul SO MUCH – he threw him off his horse- good enough for Paul- good enough for our enemies !

In the Scriptures, it states that the discerning sets his face toward wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Philippians 1:9

And it is my prayer that love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment.

He has not cast any stone but he has warned me, to never again, let the lost lead me to truth.

My Thanks goes to him who has delivered us from deception.
